FAQ
DIGITAL SEWING PATTERNS & E-BOOKS
How do I receive my purchased digital sewing patterns and e-books?
My digital sewing patterns and e-books are provided exclusively as digital products unless expressly stated otherwise in the respective product description. You will therefore not receive a printed product by post.
After successfully completing your order and payment, you will receive access to your download, for example via a download link or download page. Depending on the system used, you may also receive an automated email containing your download information.
If your download is not available, please check your spam folder and make sure that the email address provided with your order is correct.
If you still cannot access your purchased product, please contact me at hello@janinagold.com and include your order number where possible.
Support is available in German and English.
How do the digital sewing patterns work?
The files, formats, sizes and other contents included with each sewing pattern are specified in the respective product description.
Where a sewing pattern is intended for home printing, you can download the relevant PDF files and print them according to the instructions provided.
Before purchasing, please check the product description for information regarding file formats, printing formats, included sizes and any other technical requirements.
I need help with a sewing pattern. Can I contact you?
Of course! If you have a question about one of my sewing patterns or need help with a particular step, you are always welcome to email me at hello@janinagold.com.
Please describe your question or problem as clearly as possible and let me know which sewing pattern and which step you need help with. Photos or screenshots can also be very helpful so that I can better understand the issue.
As I personally respond to all support requests, it may take me a few days to reply depending on my current workload. Please allow me a little time to get back to you – I will respond as soon as possible.
Support is available in German and English.
My downloaded sewing pattern or e-book does not work or the file is damaged. What should I do?
If you are unable to download or properly open a purchased file, please contact me at hello@janinagold.com.
Where possible, include your order number and briefly describe the problem. I will review the issue and, where appropriate, provide you with a working file or renewed access to your download.
Your statutory rights regarding digital products that have not been provided or do not conform to the contract remain unaffected.
I purchased the wrong sewing pattern or e-book. Can I exchange or return it?
Special statutory rules regarding the right of withdrawal apply to digital content.
For paid digital content that is not supplied on a tangible medium, the statutory right of withdrawal may expire before the end of the regular withdrawal period if the applicable legal requirements are met.
This is particularly relevant where you have expressly agreed that the digital content may be provided before the end of the withdrawal period and have acknowledged that you will lose your right of withdrawal once performance of the contract begins.
If the applicable legal requirements have been met and the download has been provided accordingly, there is generally no longer a statutory right of withdrawal.
Please therefore check carefully before completing your purchase to make sure that you have selected the correct sewing pattern or e-book.
If you have accidentally purchased the wrong product, you are still welcome to contact me at hello@janinagold.com. I will review whether I can offer a voluntary solution in your individual case.
Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Do you also ship printed sewing patterns or e-books?
No. Unless expressly stated otherwise in the respective product description, my sewing patterns and e-books are offered exclusively as digital products.
You will therefore not receive a printed sewing pattern, book or other physical product by post.
Can I use your sewing patterns to make products that I sell?
Commercial or business use of my sewing patterns is permitted only with a valid Business Licence.
The licence included with the purchase of a digital sewing pattern is exclusively for personal, non-commercial use. It does not permit you to sell products made using my sewing patterns, offer such products commercially or otherwise use the patterns for commercial purposes.
If you would like to sell products made using one of my sewing patterns, you must obtain the appropriate Business Licence before beginning any commercial use.
A Business Licence permits commercial use only within the scope specified in the respective licence. It does not permit you to sell, share, distribute, publish or otherwise make the sewing pattern file itself available to third parties.
The appropriate Business Licence depends on the extent of your intended commercial use. Details regarding available licence options, quantity limits and other conditions can be found in my Sewing Pattern Licence Terms.
For questions or to enquire about a Business Licence, please contact me at hello@janinagold.com.
Can I modify your sewing pattern and then sell or share the modified version?
Modifying or adapting a sewing pattern does not automatically mean that the modified version may be freely used, sold or distributed.
In particular, the original sewing pattern file or a modified or adapted version derived from it may not be sold, published, distributed or made available to third parties without the appropriate permission merely because changes have been made to it.
If you modify or adapt a sewing pattern in order to create your own finished product, any commercial use remains subject to the applicable licence terms. A valid Business Licence is required for commercial use.
The specific uses permitted are determined by the licence terms applicable to the respective sewing pattern and by applicable law.
If you are planning a special commercial project, collaboration or collection using one of my sewing patterns, please contact me at hello@janinagold.com.
PRE-ORDERS & PHYSICAL PRODUCTS
How does a pre-order work?
Certain physical products and garments are offered during specific pre-order periods.
This means that these products are not necessarily kept permanently in stock and may be produced in whole or in part only after your order has been placed or after the respective pre-order period has ended.
The estimated production and delivery time is stated in the respective product description.
Please note that the total delivery time for a pre-order product consists of the production time plus the subsequent shipping time.
As some products are specifically produced for each order period, delivery may take longer than for products that are already in stock.
If there is a significant delay, I will inform you accordingly.
When will my pre-order be shipped?
The estimated production and/or shipping time is stated in the respective product description.
As certain products are only produced after your order has been placed or after the relevant pre-order period has ended, they will not necessarily be shipped immediately after you place your order.
Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation or relevant shipping information where this is available for the selected shipping method.
Please note that the stated production time and shipping time may be two separate periods.
I purchased a garment or accessory, but I do not like it or the size does not fit. Can I return it?
If you are a consumer and have purchased a regular physical product in a standard size, colour or other standard option offered by me, you generally have a statutory right of withdrawal, provided that no statutory exception applies.
The withdrawal period is generally 14 days from the date on which you receive the goods.
You may carefully try on a garment in order to check its size, fit and characteristics. Please handle the item with care.
In particular, the item should not be worn or used beyond what is reasonably necessary to try it on, nor should it be washed, altered or damaged. Please take care to avoid signs of use or staining, for example from make-up, self-tanner, perfume or deodorant.
Wearing a garment to a wedding, event, celebration, photo shoot or similar occasion may go beyond what is necessary to inspect and try on the item. If this results in a loss of value, you may be required to compensate for that loss in accordance with the applicable statutory requirements.
Further information about exercising your right of withdrawal, returning goods and refunds can be found in my Right of Withdrawal Policy.
Can I exchange a garment for a different size?
As certain garments are produced during specific pre-order or production periods, I cannot always offer a direct exchange for another size.
For example, if you ordered a size S but require a size M, you may – provided that the item is subject to a statutory right of withdrawal – return the original item by exercising your right of withdrawal.
You can then place a new order for the desired size, subject to availability, during the current or a future pre-order or ordering period.
By individual agreement, I may alternatively offer you store credit that can be used towards a future order. Accepting store credit is entirely voluntary.
If you received the wrong size or the item is defective, your statutory rights regarding defective or non-conforming goods remain unaffected.
CUSTOM CREATIONS
Is it possible to order a custom creation?
Yes. Custom-made designs are currently available for selected headpieces and accessories.
Depending on the product, I may be able to accommodate specific colour requests or colour combinations, materials, embellishments and other individual design preferences.
I currently do not offer custom-made or made-to-measure dresses or costumes.
If you have an idea for a custom headpiece or accessory, please send me an enquiry including as much information as possible about your concept, preferred colours, occasion and – where relevant – the date by which you need the piece.
I can then let you know whether your idea can be realised and provide you with an individual, non-binding quote.
Prices depend on the type of creation, materials and amount of work involved and generally start from €150.
Enquiries: hello@janinagold.com
Can I return a custom-made creation?
For certain products made specifically to a customer's individual requirements, the statutory right of withdrawal may be excluded.
This may apply in particular to headpieces and accessories individually created according to your specifications, where your personal choices or instructions are decisive for the production of the item.
For example, this may include a creation made specifically for you in a colour combination that is not part of my regular range, using individually selected materials, embellishments or other personal design specifications.
Simply selecting a standard colour or another standard option that I regularly offer does not automatically exclude the right of withdrawal.
Whether a particular custom-made product is excluded from the statutory right of withdrawal depends on the applicable legal requirements.
Further information can be found in my Right of Withdrawal Policy.
COLLABORATIONS & PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS
Are you open to collaborations with companies and brands?
Yes! I am always open to collaborations with companies and brands when the product and collaboration are a good fit for my work in Costume Design, Sewing and Creative Making.
I am particularly interested in collaborations involving fabrics and textiles, sewing supplies, sewing machines and equipment, tools and materials, wigs and wig styling, make-up and SFX, costume supplies, jewellery and accessories, as well as products for costume making, prop making and creative productions.
If you are interested in working with me, please email hello@janinagold.com with some information about your company, the product and your idea for the collaboration.
I am also happy to receive PR samples, influencer kits and products where they are a good fit for my work. Please contact me by email before sending anything and wait for confirmation. I will then provide or confirm the appropriate shipping address.
Please note that sending a product or PR sample does not automatically guarantee publication, coverage, a social media mention or a collaboration. Paid partnerships, content productions, product integrations and other commercial collaborations are agreed individually.
I am always excited to discover creative products and projects that can be authentically integrated into my work as a Costume Designer.
Are you open to celebrity, editorial and styling projects?
Yes. Enquiries for celebrity styling, editorials, photo shoots, music videos, performances, events and other creative productions are always welcome.
Depending on the project, custom headpieces or accessories may also be commissioned.
Please note that I currently do not offer rentals of my creations.
For enquiries, please email hello@janinagold.com and include as much information as possible about the project, the desired design, relevant dates, intended use and, where applicable, the responsible stylist or production team.
