Frequently Asked Questions

DIGITAL SEWING PATTERNS & E-BOOKS

How will I receive my purchased digital sewing patterns and e-books?

My digital sewing patterns and e-books are provided exclusively in digital format unless explicitly stated otherwise in the respective product description. You will therefore not receive a printed product by mail.

After successfully completing your order and payment, you will receive access to your download, for example through a download link or a dedicated download page. Depending on the system used, an automated email containing your download information may also be sent.

If your download is not available, please check your spam folder and make sure you are checking the email address provided during checkout.

If you still cannot access your purchased product, please email me at hello@janinagold.com and include your order number if possible.

Support is available in both English and German.

How do the digital sewing patterns work?

You can find information about the included files, formats, sizes, and other components of each sewing pattern in the respective product description.

If a pattern is designed for home printing, you can download the relevant PDF files and print them according to the included instructions.

Before purchasing, please check the product description for details about file formats, printing formats, included sizes, and any other technical requirements.

I need help with a sewing pattern. Can I contact you?

Of course! If you have any questions about one of my sewing patterns or get stuck at a particular step, you're always welcome to email me at hello@janinagold.com.

Please describe your issue as clearly as possible and let me know which sewing pattern and step you're having trouble with. Photos or screenshots can also be very helpful in understanding the problem.

As I personally handle all inquiries, it may take a few days for me to respond, depending on my workload. Thank you for your patience — I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Support is available in both English and German.

My downloaded sewing pattern or e-book isn't working, or the file is corrupted. What should I do?

If you cannot download or properly open a purchased file, please contact me at hello@janinagold.com.

If possible, include your order number and a brief description of the issue. I'll check the download and, where appropriate, provide a working file or an alternative way to access your purchase.

Your statutory rights regarding digital products that have not been supplied or do not conform to the contract remain unaffected.

I purchased the wrong sewing pattern or e-book. Can I exchange or return it?

Special statutory rules regarding the right of withdrawal apply to digital content.

For paid digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium, the statutory right of withdrawal may expire before the end of the regular withdrawal period if the applicable legal requirements are met.

This is particularly relevant if you have expressly agreed to receive your download before the withdrawal period expires and acknowledged that you will lose your right of withdrawal once performance of the contract begins.

If these requirements have been met and the download has been provided accordingly, the right of withdrawal will generally no longer apply.

Please make sure you have selected the correct sewing pattern or e-book before completing your purchase.

If you accidentally purchased the wrong product, you're still welcome to contact me at hello@janinagold.com. I'll be happy to review your situation and see whether I can offer a voluntary solution.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Do you also ship printed sewing patterns or e-books?

No. Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the respective product description, my sewing patterns and e-books are available exclusively as digital products.

You will therefore not receive a printed sewing pattern, book, or other physical product by mail.

Can I use your sewing patterns to make products that I want to sell?

Commercial or business use of my sewing patterns is permitted only with a valid Business License.

The license included with the purchase of a digital sewing pattern is intended exclusively for private, non-commercial use. In particular, it does not permit you to sell products made using my sewing patterns, offer such products commercially, or otherwise use the patterns for commercial purposes.

If you would like to sell products made using one of my sewing patterns, you must obtain the appropriate Business License before beginning any commercial activity.

A Business License permits commercial use only within the agreed scope. It does not allow you to sell, distribute, share, publish, or make the sewing pattern file itself available to third parties.

The appropriate Business License depends on the extent of your planned commercial use. You can find the exact conditions, quantity limits, and available licensing options in my Sewing Pattern License Terms.

For questions or to inquire about a Business License, please contact me at hello@janinagold.com.

Can I modify your sewing patterns and sell or share the modified version?

Modifying or adapting a sewing pattern does not automatically mean that it can be freely used, sold, or shared.

In particular, the original sewing pattern file or a modified or derivative version of it may not be sold, published, distributed, or shared with third parties without the appropriate permission simply because changes have been made.

Even if you modify or adapt a sewing pattern to create your own product, any commercial use is subject to the applicable license terms. An appropriate Business License is required for commercial use.

The specific uses permitted depend on the license terms applicable to the respective sewing pattern and the relevant statutory provisions.

For special commercial projects or collaborations, feel free to contact me at hello@janinagold.com.

PRE-ORDERS & PHYSICAL PRODUCTS

How do pre-orders work?

Certain physical products and garments are offered during designated pre-order periods.

This means these products are not necessarily kept in stock as finished items. Instead, production begins in whole or in part after your order has been placed or once the respective pre-order period has ended.

You can find the estimated production and delivery times in the respective product description.

Please note that the total delivery time for pre-order products includes both the production period and the subsequent shipping time.

As some products are made specifically for each ordering period, delivery may take longer than for ready-to-ship items.

If a significant delay occurs, I'll keep you informed.

When will my pre-order be shipped?

You can find the estimated production or shipping time in the respective product description.

As certain products are manufactured only after your order has been placed or after a pre-order period has ended, they are not shipped immediately after purchase.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation or relevant shipping information where this is provided for the selected shipping method.

Please keep in mind that production time and shipping time may be two separate periods.

I purchased a garment or accessory, but I don't like it or the size doesn't fit. Can I return it?

If you are a consumer and have purchased a regular physical product in a standard size, color, or variation offered by me, you generally have a statutory right of withdrawal unless a legal exception applies.

The withdrawal period is generally 14 days from receipt of the goods.

You may carefully try on a garment to check its size, fit, and characteristics. Please handle the item with care.

In particular, the item should not be worn or used beyond a normal fitting, washed, altered, or damaged. Please avoid signs of use or stains, such as those caused by makeup, self-tanner, perfume, or deodorant, wherever possible.

Wearing a garment to a wedding, event, celebration, photoshoot, or similar occasion may go beyond what is necessary to try it on. If this results in a reduction in value, you may be required to compensate for that reduction under the applicable statutory conditions.

Further information about exercising your right of withdrawal, returning goods, and receiving refunds can be found in my Withdrawal Policy.

Can I exchange a garment for a different size?

As certain garments are made during pre-order periods or scheduled production runs, I cannot always offer direct exchanges for a different size.

For example, if you ordered size S but need size M instead, you may return the original item under your statutory right of withdrawal, provided that this right applies to the product.

You can then place a new order for the desired size, subject to availability during a current or future pre-order or ordering period.

Alternatively, by mutual agreement, I may voluntarily offer you store credit instead of a refund for use on a future order. Accepting store credit is entirely optional.

If the wrong size was delivered by mistake or the item is defective, your statutory rights regarding defective goods apply regardless.

CUSTOM CREATIONS

Can I commission a custom-made creation?

Yes! Custom-made designs are currently available for selected headpieces and accessories.

Depending on the product, I may be able to accommodate special color requests or combinations, materials, embellishments, and other individual design preferences.

At the moment, I do not offer custom-made dresses or costumes tailored to individual measurements.

If you have an idea for a custom headpiece or accessory, feel free to send me an inquiry with as much information as possible about your vision, preferred colors, the occasion, and your required deadline, if applicable.

I'll then let you know whether your idea is possible and provide a personalized, non-binding quote.

Prices depend on the design, materials, and work involved and generally start at €150.

For inquiries, please email hello@janinagold.com.

Can I return a custom-made creation?

The statutory right of withdrawal may be excluded for certain individually customized products.

This may apply in particular to headpieces and accessories made specifically according to your personal requests, where your individual choices or specifications are decisive for their production.

Examples may include creations made in a color combination not normally offered, using individually selected materials or embellishments, or based on other personal design requests.

However, simply choosing a regularly offered color or another standard product variation does not automatically exclude the right of withdrawal.

Whether a custom-made product is exempt from the statutory right of withdrawal depends on the applicable legal requirements.

Further information can be found in my Withdrawal Policy.

COLLABORATIONS & PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS

Are you open to collaborations with companies and brands?

Yes! I'm always open to collaborations with companies and brands when the product and partnership align with my work in costume design, sewing, and creative making.

I'm particularly interested in collaborations involving fabrics and textiles, sewing supplies, sewing machines and equipment, tools and materials, wigs and wig styling, makeup and SFX, costume accessories, jewelry, and products related to costume making, prop making, and creative productions.

If you're interested in working together, please send me an email with information about your company, product, and collaboration idea to hello@janinagold.com.

I'm also generally happy to consider PR samples, influencer kits, and products. However, please contact me by email before sending anything and wait for confirmation. The appropriate shipping address will then be provided or confirmed by email.

Please note that sending a product does not automatically guarantee a publication, mention, or collaboration. Paid partnerships, content creation, product integrations, and other commercial collaborations are arranged individually.

I look forward to discovering creative projects and products that authentically complement my work as a costume designer.

Are you available for celebrity, editorial, and styling projects?

Yes! I'm generally open to inquiries for celebrity styling, editorials, photoshoots, music videos, performances, events, and other creative productions.

Depending on the project, custom headpiece or accessory designs may be available.

Please note that I currently do not offer rentals of my creations.

To inquire, please send me as much information as possible about your project, the desired design, timeline, intended use, and, where applicable, the styling or production team involved.
